Telling The Truth

Sarah loved to have fun. She was a curious and adventurous child which sometimes got her into trouble. Sarah and her family lived very close to the community park. She really enjoy going to this particular park because it had swings, climbers and trees.  She had asked her mother in the past if she could climb one of the trees but she told her it did not look safe to climb.

One day, she went to the park with her friends. They wanted to climb one of the trees, but she remembered her parents had told her not to do it because it was dangerous. However, she chose to climb the tree with her friends anyway.

When Sarah returned home, her parents asked her if she had a good time at the park. Then her mother asked her if she climbed one of the trees. Sarah knew she shouldn't have, so she lied and said she didn't. Her parents were suspicious, but they decided to let it go.

Later that night, she found it hard to sleep. She tossed and turned all night and felt so  guilty for lying to her parents. She realized that telling the truth was the right thing to do, even if it meant getting into trouble.

So, the very next morning at breakfast time, she confessed what she had done. Her parents were displeased that Sarah had lied but was very happy she decided to tell them the truth.

They forgave her and explained to her why it was dangerous to climb the tree. Sarah learned a valuable lesson about the importance of being honest, and she promised to always tell the truth from that day forward.

Sarah said she will no longer tell lies, especially to her parents.

As Christians, we should not tell lies either. God wants all of us to be honest to each other even if we end up feeling embarrassed. And if you tell a lie, ask God to forgive you because He will.

Colossians 3:9-10  says “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
