Tell God About Your Plans

Gracie wants to read the bible story of Samuel’s birth and ministry on the weekend.  She said that after she comes from school on Friday afternoon, she will take a break from watching tv and playing with her brother to read 1 Samuel 1,2, and 3.  To remember to do so, she will tie a string on her finger as a reminder. She saw her mother do this many times when she wanted to remember to do something.  The reason Gracie was impressed to read 1 Samuel 1, 2, and 3, was because her  teacher at church told the Sabbath school class a short story about him and she really liked it.

However, when Friday came, Gracie forgot how much she wanted to read the bible story and how she had planned to set aside time to read it. Instead, she watched reruns of her favourite Disney show  and played video games with her brother.

On Monday in her religious education class, her teacher started a new topic and it was about Samuel.  Gracie immediately remembered she had planned to read the story over the weekend but did not do so.

For Gracie, she made an amazing choice to read God’s word.  However, she omitted to include Him in her plans to do so.  If Gracie had prayed to God telling Him her desires to read 1 Samuel 1, 2, and 3, He would have made a way for her to remember to set time apart to do so without having to rely on a piece of string on her finger.
